There we go I've said it... I have proclaimed it on the interwebs so it must be true! I Am A Geek.
It took quite awhile for me to come to grips with it...and learn to accept my geekiness...used to hide it and deny it and flat out make fun of other geeks... but strangely looking back I've always been a geek... I would geek out on things not realizing that's what I was doing...I have had friends that have helped shape my geekiness over the years...
The Man (obviously)... Squasha... Swift... DrunkenMonkey... Roo... Bing... Burton... Bella... nails... Meg... Pickle...
Truthfully before Burton came into my life full force... didn't realize just how awesome geek girls are or how cool they could be...

Impossible Astronaut Day as celebrated while Pickle was in the Hospital. |
So to truly celebrate my geekdom...the man's geekdom... his birthday... mother's day... and the fact that we haven't had a vacation together since driving down to see Swift and his wife (7 years ago)...
The Man and I are taking a trip... we're headed to the Ottawa Comic Con... (we'll also be volunteering at and attending the Niagara Falls Comic Con...in June) this trip will not only be great for us... to get away just the two of us... but will also help me out to make some great memories that will hopefully replace others for the same time period... (not getting into that completely because this is my happy post...that will also hopefully get me back into a good mood)
I'm super stoked about the guests that will be there... a couple of them have cancelled but have totally been replaced with better celebs... Adam West (get better soon) had to cancel has been replaced with Nathan 'omfg yes' Fillion! Laurie Holden and Jonathan Frakes both cancelled...here comes Levar Burton! Is it weird that I would rather talk to him about Reading Rainbow rather then TNG?
But my ultimate fave will be there and won't be a dick because after all it is Wheaton's Law... Wil Wheaton is going to be there! *insert fangirl scream here* (if I do it here on my blog then I won't do it there in person)... I was told not to hump him...to that I ask... why the fuck not?! lol
However... I will keep my cool and not hump Wil.
My head nearly exploded yesterday when I realized that not only would I get to see Wil but also that Nathan would be there as well...colour me tickled pink...
The Man and I have paid to get a 8.5 x 11 photo of the two of us with Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton... our faves... I wanted to make sure that I got a good pic of Wil and I...and this hopefully insures that... *crosses fingers*
Oh yeah and James Marsters (another fave) will be doing a concert (unfortunately couldn't get into that) but will also be doing a Q&A and will be on the floor all weekend as well...
I just really can't wait until next weekend...I hope it's going to be phenomenal.
The only thing that could make this even better is if David Tennant was there too!
This became a concern after I went through the schedule and was highlighting the different stuff we wanted to go to... if Nathan Fillion sits in on the Firefly Q&A...then I'd have to miss the Dalek Building...lol
So our tickets into the Con are paid for and printed out... our bus tickets to Ottawa are paid for and printed out...I've printed out not only the activities/events schedule and highlighted stuff I'd like to see but also the gaming schedule in case we can get some game playing in as well...
Can you tell this is my very first Comic Con of any kind... only conventions I'm used to are Lions and as much fun as it is to get loaded with a bunch of old guys...lol
We're staying with a friend of mine that I met a couple of years ago at Red Spiral and can't wait to see her again and to meet her family. Hopefully everything will go smoothly... they've just found out that her son's cancer has come back and he's gone back into the hospital for treatment... he'll be home on Monday... but she sent me a quick message letting me know that if either of us aren't in really good health we'll have to (with her help) find another place to stay for the weekend.
I've been told...comfortable shoes...learn to love the line (I'm part British and can queue up with the best of them!)...cons are expensive...some celebs can be dicks and their handlers even bigger dicks (so don't be surprised)...carry around your own marker/pen (for just in case moments)...that I can wear the fuck out of a hat...and that I'm sexy as hell...
but those last two had nothing to do with going to a Con that was just at the last party we had with the NRG girls...lol
Oh... and no I won't be dressing up in any sort of costume while at the Comic Con... ;)
